Iran says it will not halt uranium enrichment, which it says is for peaceful uses.
A top U.S. official says Washington expects the Security Council to begin working as early as next week on a resolution to issue sanctions against Iran.
Media reports suggest that not all Council members agree on how to proceed with Iran. France has signaled it is flexible on the demand that Tehran suspend uranium enrichment. Russia and China have long been reluctant to punish Iran.
