A deadly explosion triggered by a car bomb rocked a suburb of the Lebanese capital of Beirut early Monday.
Witnesses say the blast heavily damaged a second car that was passing by just as the bomb detonated.
Early reports from the scene say at least three people were killed and up to 10 others were wounded. The explosion occurred in (Mekalis) a mainly Christian area of the city.
Lebanon has been rocked by a series of bombings and assassinations since the death of former Prime
Minister Rafik al-Hariri, who was killed in a similar car-bomb attack 10 monthsd ago (December 14).
A bomb exploded last week in the eastern town of Baalbek, a stronghold of Lebanon's Hezbollah militants. No one was injured, but members of Hezbollah called the attack an Israeli assassination attempt. Israel denied any involvement in the Baalbek blast.
